Why I'm Running
I know what it feels like when a neighborhood doesn't have a voice.
When the city used our HOA's private easement and then labeled the issue caused by them as "private," I realized how easily residents can get caught between policy and real life.
I'm running to fix that.
You deserve clear answers, fair treatment, and solutions that work in every neighborhood.
About Me
I've experienced how frustrating it is when City Hall dismisses real neighborhood concerns. As HOA President, I've fought to fix problems our neighborhood didn't create, only to see the city dismiss them. That experience showed me how easily residents can get stuck between policy and real life and why every neighborhood needs a voice at the table.
Service has been the foundation of my life. I'm on my second 6-year contract with the Iowa Army National Guard, where I've learned discipline, teamwork, and how to deliver results under pressure. In my professional role as Procurement Coordinator for the City of West Des Moines, I manage multi-million-dollar public budgets with transparency and accountability, making sure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely.
I hold a Bachelor's in Economics and an MBA from St. Ambrose University. More importantly, I bring a record of service and problem-solving rooted in real neighborhood needs. I'm not running to play politics. I'm running to get results: clear answers, fair treatment, and practical solutions that work for families, seniors, and every neighborhood in Marion.
Support for Families and Seniors
Marion should be the best place to raise a family and to age with dignity. Expand age-friendly services, reduce household strain, and invest in parks, safe streets, schools, childcare, and walkable neighborhoods.
Neighborhood Representation and Fairness
Give every neighborhood a seat at the table. Require clear answers and public timelines from City Hall. Guarantee equal access to services and infrastructure. Publish who gets what and when so residents can track results and hold us accountable.
Economic Vitality and Local Business Growth
Help small businesses start, grow, and stay in Marion. Streamline permits with one front door and predictable timelines. Protect historic districts while supporting responsible growth. Build partnerships that keep dollars local and make entrepreneurship simpler.
Smart Development, Infrastructure, and Growth Management
Grow responsibly and maintain what we have. Prioritize roads, stormwater, and utilities in every area, not only new builds. Require fair cost sharing from developers. Align land use with existing services to reduce tax pressure while preserving Marion's character.
Job Creation and Income Opportunities
Attract high-paying tech and manufacturing jobs to Marion by targeting key sectors, securing fast approvals, preparing site-ready spaces, and offering paid apprenticeships for students, veterans, career switchers, and minority and disabled residents.
Responsible Property Tax Management
Protect taxpayers while funding core services: publish an annual “Where Your Taxes Go” report, ensure new growth pays its fair share, eliminate waste, and maintain the levy at a stable level without compromising service quality.
